ARCHITECTURAL TILT-UP: EDUCATION

OLATHE JR. HIGH

WHO WE WORKED WITH

OVERVIEW

This significant expansion to Mission Trail Middle School, a part of Olathe’s Junior High School System, covered 146,000 square feet and added beautiful new classrooms and administrative spaces to an aging campus. The Architectural Tilt-Up construction featured both an exterior insulation and finish system (EIFS) as well as a thin brick exterior that blended a classic appearance with the older remaining portions of the building. Infrared imaging shows an incredible contrast between the insulated Thermomass Tilt-Up walls (which have a R-24 performance value) and the energy inefficiency of the original masonry construction. Tilt-Up construction not only saved nearly two months on the  onstruction schedule but also saved taxpayers over half-a-million dollars on construction costs.
